Careers Brand Designer.
Dirtbag Studio sells one object, a living plant wall canvas, in three languages. The brand around it was built quickly, and it shows. This is a freelance brief for a designer who can take the identity, the photography and the writing, and make them look like they came from the same place.

Careers What you would work on
Four areas, in rough order of how badly each one needs attention. Nobody is expected to be strongest at all four: tell us which are yours.
01 Brand identity.
Type, colour, layout, and the small rules that keep a page feeling like Dirtbag Studio. Much of this exists already, some of it by accident. The job is to decide what is deliberate, write it down, and apply it evenly across the site, the emails and the print.
02 Product photography, art direction.
The catalogue still runs on stock imagery, which is the most visible problem the brand has. You would plan the real shoots: what each image has to prove, how a living plant is lit and styled, what a set looks like, and how the results are cropped and sequenced across the shop and the product pages. Shooting it yourself is welcome, not required.
03 The Journal.
The Journal is where Dirtbag Studio writes about plants, materials and the studio. It needs a visual system of its own: article covers, pull quotes, diagrams for the care guides, and a way for a long read to hold together without a photograph under every heading.
04 Packaging.
The canvas and the plant often travel separately and arrive on different days. Unboxing is the first physical contact anyone has with the brand, and it has to survive a courier first. Print, materials and the care card belong to this part.
What we expect
A portfolio over a CV.
Show finished work and say plainly what you did on it. Three projects explained well count for far more than a list of tools.
Comfort working alone.
There is no design team to hand things to. You get a written brief, direct feedback, and the room to argue with both.
An eye for restraint.
The product is quiet and the brand should be too. Work that needs a lot of decoration to hold attention is not the right fit here.
Enough English to work in.
The site ships in English, Spanish and Catalan. Everything is designed in English first and then translated, so a layout has to survive text that grows by a third.

Subject Brand Designer application Write to hello@dirtbagstudio.com What to include
- 01 A link to your portfolio, or a PDF. Three projects is plenty.
- 02 A line or two on which of the four areas you would take first, and why.
- 03 Your rate, however you prefer to charge it, and roughly when you are free.
- 04 Where you are based, so we can find hours that overlap.
